Fact Checking Obama

On Tuesday night, our new President gave a passionate speech to Congress, but some people are saying he doesn’t have all his facts quite right.  As much as I love Obama, I like to look at both sides of things, and I think everyone needs a good fact check once in a while.

My Way News (in association with the Associated Press) ran an article that checks out many of the statements and promises that Obama made on Tuesday, and it’s quite interesting to see what they reveal.  Some of the corrections are a little picky, and some are lacking in evidence, so you may have to do a little sleuthing on your own.  But it gives us a starting point for questions we might need to form when looking at these plans.  It’s always important to use caution when listening to the promises of a politician, so it’s nice to have them broken down once in a while to find a balance between hope and realism.

Buddhist Beer Temple

temple2 Buddhist Beer Temple

Beer is a beautiful thing.  First you drink and enjoy it, then you pray inside of the bottles.  Well, at least the monks of Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew in Thailand do.  They have constructed an entire complex of temples, stairs, bridges, mosaics, and even toilets out of empty beer bottles.  In a new method of recycling, locals drop off their empties at the complex, and the monks can then use them to construct more buildings on the property, which already consists of 20 structures.

The monks say that the over one million bottles used in the complex have been a perfect method for building as they are easy to clean and provide good lighting.  They use green Heineken bottles, brown Chang beer, various soft drinks, and Thai Red Bull bottles.  They also use the bottle caps to make their mosaics, not letting anything go to waste.

This woman found her husband’s online character hooking up with an online hooker…let me emphasize online. So she’s divorcing him online because he online cheated on her. I know, it’s all really confusing. Read the article if you want to attempt to understand these people:
